On the "First Monday" of every month...

We gather in the evening to learn about what is going on across all ministries at Crossroads, celebrate victories together, and hear how we can all continue to support efforts to share God's love out into our community.

Please join us! We meet the first Monday of every month from 6:30-8pm.

Read on for a synopsis of this month's meeting. Any questions, or interested in learning more? Send us an email.

JULY FIRST MONDAY NOTES

Dear Crossroads Family, It’s hard to believe that summer is half over. That means that households will soon be getting set in their Fall routines as school starts and the social and life calendars reset.

One of the greatest responses when I was considering Crossroads was listening to others answer the question, “What do you want to see God do with this revitalized work?” Overwhelmingly, the answer was, “We want to see our friends and neighbors come to know Jesus!” The second most heard answer was, “We want to do something more than just attend church.”

It is time to start thinking about both those response. Many are involved, and that is wonderful, however, not everyone is.

My first challenge is this: Who are you asking God for the privilege of inviting to church this fall?
My second question is this: What are you willing to invest in (time, talent and finances) so that Crossroads Church grows to be the place God has ordained it to be?

The questions aren’t multiple choice because God has called us all to be a witness and to serve. So it comes down to this: What will your obedience look like this Fall? Don’t let that be a manipulative question, because it’s not meant to be. It’s meant to be a call to really participate as the body of Christ and be a light and salt in your circle of influence and neighborhood.

It takes a lot of work to plant a church. Don’t get me wrong, we, you, are doing great! It has been a pleasure to see what God is doing in and through each of you, however, the intentional work of growth is now upon us.

Please take the time to prayerfully answer both questions.

Some areas of service that we need to respond to:
-Twice a month teacher for pre-school (see Charity Mahair)
-Twice a month teacher for grades K-3 (see Charity Mahair)
-People to take responsibility (and work with Mike and the elders) in the area of: (see Mike)
     -Facility oversight
     -Community Engagement
     -Benevolence

Thank you for your making Crossroads Church the church that it’s becoming. It’s pretty amazing. While the majority of small churches are shrinking, we are growing. Let’s grow more by people coming to know Jesus and them showing Jesus to their friend groups and networks.

The difference is Jesus,
MB

JUNE FIRST MONDAY NOTES

From the desk of Pastor Mike

1. The Congregational Meeting will be held on June 22nd following the morning service. All are invited to attend. Following that meeting, a Pizza lunch will be served. Crossroads will provide the pizza and drink, the congregants are invited to bring a salad or dessert. The information to be discussed and voted on will be available on this Sunday, June 8th in written form.

2. Men - If you are interested in an early morning Bible Study Group, please see Jordan Schultz this Sunday and indicate your interest or email him at Jschulz@huffmankeel.com

3. The HVAC and Parking lot funding is going well. We need to raise $15,000 by the end of June. A family in the church has pledged to match up to $10,000 that is given by the end of June. Please prayerfully consider your sacrificial gift to the church in addition to your regular giving. Air conditioning and strips on the lot will be welcomed!

4. This Sunday’s text is Ephesians 4:1-16. Please read it and be ready for the Holy Spirit to guide us into a deeper understanding of what Paul wrote and its implications for us today.

5. Sunday Evening, June 15, at 6 PM will be our next Intimate Worship and Prayer Gathering. It’s not just singing songs or praying for 20 minutes, but a time to give our full attention to God and ask him to be with us. This month we will be specifically praying for those who need healing. This can be any aspect of being human; emotionally, physically, mentally or spiritually. If you know someone who needs God to touch them, invite them along! Read more about healing by a few documents here.

PREVIOUS FIRST MONDAY NOTES

1. Appreciation of Larry Meyers. Larry and Donna were the interim pastors at Crossroads and graciously assisted in the transition resulting in HPC planting a church and revitalizing the work that God has begun there. They will be attending the home church in Beaver Dam, but I imagine we’ll see them from time to time!

2. Comment about participation at Crossroads.

  • Thank you for using your gifts and talents for the kingdom and for Crossroads Church. Here are few guidelines I’d like for us to follow:
    • When you like something that is helpful, please speak up! Encouragement and graciousness are great gifts to cultivate.
    • When you don’t like something, speak up constructively.
      • Not based on personal likes or dislikes, but for the good of the body
      • Speak in love, and pray over it first
  • If you have a new ministry or idea?
    • Make sure you are willing to participate and that it is well prayed over.
    • Remember: With the idea comes the anointing!
  • We can’t do everything at once or at first, but eventually we’ll be a full service church that fits within what God is calling us to be.
    • First we need to build the critical mass with the core being prayer and worship and ministry to children.
3. Third Sunday Prayer and Worship 6 PM will be starting on May 18th. This has come out of prayer, a strong urging through spiritually based conversations and a right prophetic word.
  • It will be loosely structured with the main emphasis on ‘giving rightful attention to God’.
  • The time will be spent 30% personal and 70% corporate
  • People from other churches are welcome! It should grow into a regional ministry expression.
  • We will be working on child care under age 5 with childcare. It will not start until someone steps forward and feels God would have them do that for the sake of others participating.

4. There will be a letter coming out this next week about giving and the HVAC project that we need to pay for by June. God is already graciously providing, but there will be a gap that we need to fill so have AC and air flow throughout the summer months.

5. Comments about inviting people - Comments from the book The Great Dechurching
    • In the past 25 years, 40 million people have left organized religion. 15m left Protestant churches. Only 15% were do to ‘church hurt’.
    • 80% surveyed said that they would gladly come back to church if:
      • Someone they knew invited them
      • The church they were being invited to is known to be healthy or the pastor is healthy and the church is getting better.
  • That’s 1.02m people who are waiting for an invite
  • We all want to see Crossroads reach people for Jesus. What this all means is that it primarily happens when we invite people we know. It’s likely they will say yes!

6. A new ministry reaching moms in McFarland - Interview with Brittany Pederson

7. Discussion about 1 mid-July inviting activity
  • BBQ and Mid-summer night dance with kids bounce toys
  • BBQ and Car Show with kids bounce toys
  • BBQ and a Music Festival with kids bounce toys
  • Other?

7. We closed with prayer at tables, asking God to guide us and to thank him for what he is doing!
