A Note from Pastor Mike
The holiday season is quickly approaching, and I want to give you a heads up to some
important dates and opportunities.
Many people think about church in uncertain times, especially at Christmas and New
Years. The political climate has brought about a surge in people revisiting, or even
visiting for the first time, and conversations about faith and hope. I want to encourage you to
take the opportunity to have conversations with those in your circle of influence this
season. It’s typically easier than the story we set up in our minds.
Let me give you an example. The Friday Play Dates that Brittany is curating are a simple,
“Hey, let’s get together for a play date and talk while the kiddos play.” That has already
resulted in families talking about faith and even attending Crossroads. That is so cool.
Even if they don’t come to church, a conversation has been started.
Here are some suggestions:
Coffee and invite 3-4 neighbors over. Just get to know them and ask what their
holiday plans are and what traditions they might have.
and deliver them with a card each year early in December. It’s a chance to share
good will and a bit of neighborhood love around.
your kids enjoy?
The point is: Do something easy and enjoy others. In the conversation, you’ll get an
opportunity to share your traditions including Christmas Advent or the Christmas Eve
Family Service at 4pm on December 24.
A couple other items. It’s tough for families with little ones to be out in the evenings, and
that includes 1/3 of our church, so we are going to party in the daylight!
lunch together. Pulled-pork, baked potatoes and drink will be provided, the
church family can bring desserts and a salad or fun favorite side-dish. We’ll eat
around 10:30 and have a great time. If you have someone would like to invite,
please do! We will be set up for them!
have breakfast together. Spending time getting to know each other over food is a
very biblical thing to do and hospitality is a critical means to include others into
the fellowship.
I’m excited to continue to see how God builds us together and deeper in Him. Strong
roots allow for growth that is solid and can support a large and beautiful plant or
tree. Psalm 1 speaks of that. It’s a great goal for us as we are waiting for God to bring
people to join us in worshipping him and enlarging our fellowship.
See you Sunday!
Pastor Mike
